TANIS OSTERMANN

Tanis Ostermann is Principal & Founder of CanSustain, a Manitoba firm specializing in environmental and sustainability management issues and solutions. She has worked in the fields of environmental and sustainability management system development and improvement for twenty- five years, having led the design, facilitation and development of sustainability focused projects.

 Ms. Ostermann has experience in utility, aerospace, clean-tech, water management, academic, airport management, retail, agri-food, telecom and municipal sectors. She has provided advice on the most pressing environmental and sustainability issues in the world today, including climate change, municipal planning, ESG, clean tech advancement, corporate sustainability governance and circular economies.

 She is an Environmental Professional, certified through the Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board. Ms. Ostermann has a Bachelor of Science in environmental toxicology and a Master of Environment focusing on the use of existing, well-functioning management systems to enhance sustainability performance.

 Most recently she has served on the Expert Advisory Committee under the Manitoba Climate and Green Plan; as the Manitoba Representative to the Sustainable Development Advisory Council under the Canadian Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada, and on the Canadian Standardization Advisory Committee on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Sustainability of Standards Council of Canada.

CHRISTINE DONALDSON

Christine is President and CEO of HealthPRO Canada.

Over the last five years Christine has led HealthPRO Canada’s comprehensive Pharmacy portfolio on behalf of over 1,300 healthcare facilities across the country.

Christine works collaboratively with members, suppliers, industry associations and all levels of government to spearhead strategic initiatives designed to advance patient safety, sustainability and supply assurance. 

Prior to joining HealthPRO Canada, Christine was Regional Director of Pharmacy Services at Windsor Regional Hospital, where she oversaw pharmacy operations for a multi-site inpatient program, the regional cancer centre, as well as accredited outpatient pharmacies.  

Christine has a Bachelor of Science degree (Pharmacy) from the University of Toronto and a Master’s degree in Adult Education, earned The Osgoode Certificate in Public Procurement Law and Practice and is a member of Health Canada’s Multi-Stakeholder Steering Committee (MSSC) on Drug Shortages. 

DR. JON OTTER

Jon is a Clinical Scientist focused on healthcare-associated infection, antimicrobial resistance, and Infection Prevention and Control. He is currently the Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the National Institute for Health Research Health Protection Research Unit (NIHR HPRU) in Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance at Imperial College London.  

Jon previously managed the Infection Prevention Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, was a Research Fellow at the Centre for Clinical Infection and Diagnostics Research (CIDR) (King’s College London / Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London), and was the Scientific Director of the Healthcare Division at Bioquell. He has a first class honors degree in Microbiology from the University of Nottingham and a PhD in epidemiology (of MRSA) from King’s College London. 

 

 

ED RUBINSTEIN

A proven leader in Environmental, Social and Governance strategy, Ed has been leading and developing environmental sustainability programs and teams for almost 25 years. Prior to joining Noventa, Ed leads the University Health Network’s award-winning Energy & Environment team, and was instrumental in spearheading numerous district energy, decarbonization, energy efficiency and sustainability projects.  Ed’s work has been recognized with multiple awards including being honoured as a member of the 2018 Clean16. When not at work, Ed enjoys being physically active (hockey, running, biking), playing guitar, and travelling. Most of all, he enjoys doing those things with his family.

MARIANNE DAWSON

With a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences and a Master of Science in environmental practice, Marianne Dawson has a varied background in migratory bird field studies, environmental education and retail sustainabilityCurrently, Marianne works as a Sustainability Advisor with BC’s Provincial Health Services Authority on the procurement teamShe is responsible for designing and leading sustainability initiatives in alignment with current procurement policies and process and promoting environmental sustainability to PHSA’s supplier community. 

 

 

COLIN CHAN 

Colin Chan is the Regional Leader, Sustainable Clinical Services at VCH, where expanding the use of reusable medical supplies and devices is a key planetary health focus. He is an Environmental Engineer with 20 years of experience helping organizations achieve their sustainability visions. He holds a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of British Columbia. 

MARSHA SMOKE

Marsha Smoke (Niigaani MkwaKwe) is a citizen of the Alderville First Nation in Ontario, a community of the Michi Saagiig Nation in the Williams Treaty territory. Niigaani MkwaKwe of the Bear Clan is a Knowledge Keeper, a facilitator, an active volunteer, and a speaker on First Nations history, culture, and reconciliation. 

Marsha was raised in the traditional teachings of her ancestors and worked with First Nationsand at the Regional, National, and International levels.  

She has had an exciting career in First Nation politics with a lifetime of activism and advocacy, always promoting the rights and interests of Indigenous peoples. Some of Marsha’s work includes time spent with Grand Chief Dr. Billy Diamond and the Crees of Eeyou Istchee (Northern Quebec); National Chiefs Phil Fontaine and Georges Erasmus at the Assembly of First Nations; Chiefs of Ontario; Grand Council Treaty #3 and numerous Chiefs and Councils and First Nation organizations. Spending time in local First Nation communities has been the highlight of her career.  

In business, Marsha was an owner of Pash Travel, a 100% First Nation travel agency, and worked in the formative years to develop the Indigenous tourism industry in Canada, the United States, and the founding of the World Indigenous Tourism Alliance in Australia. She is the owner of Moccasin Trails, a supplier to the construction industry; and now spends her time with her management consulting company Wintergreen Canada to build relationships with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples facilitating discussions and understandings to achieve meaningful Reconciliation goals. 

Marsha Smoke is the daughter of Indian Day School Survivors and the spouse of an Indian Residential School Survivor. She lives in her home community at the Alderville First Nation. 

 

 

CHARLIE STURR

Charlie is a Climate Solutions Consultant at Watershed. As a Climate Solutions Consultant, Charlie works with Watershed partners to better understand their short and long-term climate ambitions, help streamline and modernize their climate programs, and provide them with the tools they need to reach their sustainability goals. Charlie has worked with a number of Watershed customers in the healthcare space, including AdventHealth and Medline, among others. 

Charlie has extensive experience in carbon accounting, navigating the greenhouse gas protocol, and unlocking decarbonization levers. Before joining the Climate Solutions Team, Charlie spent 1.5 years as a Carbon Data Analyst at Watershed where he worked directly with Watershed customers, gaining deep knowledge of Watershed’s data ingestion workflows, underlying emissions factor libraries, and Watershed’s system architecture.

LISA VANLINT

Lisa Vanlint is the Manager of Environmental Sustainability in the Energy and Environment team within FM-PRO at University Health Network. She started at UHN in 2011 as Energy Steward and previously coordinated the greening initiative at St. Michael’s Hospital. With a background in communications and project management from University of Toronto and Ryerson, Lisa leads on employee engagement, behavior change and environmental compliance in varied areas of sustainability including energy conservation, waste reduction, toxics, transportation and procurement. Through her work, UHN has achieved Canada’s Greenest Employer status from 2021 onwards.
