CSA FinHub Data Portability Forum – Calgary

Join the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) Financial Innovation Hub for its second Data Portability Forum on September 18, 2025, as we continue the conversation started in May in Vancouver.

The CSA Collaboratory data portability and electronic know-your-client (e-KYC) test is currently in its second phase. The Calgary forum will discuss industry perspectives, obstacles, advantages, and what a live testing environment might look like.

Who should attend?  

This is an open forum aimed at interested stakeholders including investment firms, information technology companies (particularly fintech companies and e-KYC service providers) along with academics, and legal and regulatory experts.

hosting a third and final forum in Montreal, Quebec, in November 2025.

The first CSA FinHub Data Portability Forum hosted in Vancouver was part of the second phase of the CSA Collaboratory Data Portability test. The forum discussed topics including potential regulatory barriers to the adoption of e-KYC and how the CSA can facilitate industry-wide collaboration on data portability standards.

About the data portability test

The CSA Collaboratory’s first test considers issues raised by data portability, with a focus on electronic know-your-client practices (e-KYC). The test seeks to gather information related to:

  • The use of data portability in mitigating investor risk.
  • Privacy and security concerns.
  • Possible regulatory barriers affecting the development of data portability solutions.
